Is the closure re-enterable? No. Uraseal’s CT kits offer life long splice connector protection for direct buried cable repairs. Our CT kits completely encapsulate the entire splice area in a rigid polyurethane shield. This shield prevents environmental intrusion and seasonal strains (water, frost heaves, cable pull outs, etc.), which can result in corrosion and cable failure.
I use heat shrink, why would I use CT kits? CT kits use a two part polyurethane liquid compound which hardens quickly and bonds to the cable jacket. This bonding creates an impenetrable cover over the entire splice area.
I use gel filled closures, why would I use CT kits? Over time, gel filled closures typically fail for various reasons, such as; cable pullout, gel flowing out of the closure and exposing connectors.
How do I know which size kit to use? Use the sizing cross reference chart on the CT Closure data sheet, or simply measure your connector and choose a kit that is at least ¼” larger in diameter.
How tough is it? Our kits are designed to last beyond the life of any cable. We have also standardized our closures to provide UV protection in above ground applications.
How long will it last? Our two component compound is formulated to last longer than the jacket material of all standard coaxial cables.
Can it be used in wet areas? Yes. Our compound is used in fully submersible cable splicing applications in the marine and mining industries.

How long does it take to harden? Typical set up time is three to five minutes at room temperature (78 ◦ F). If the temperature is lower than 78 ◦ F, it will take longer and if it is hotter than 78 ◦ F, it will take less time.
What if it gets on my hands? Wash immediately and thoroughly with soap and water. To decrease the chance of contact, always wear the gloves provide in the kit and safety glasses while mixing and pouring the compound.
Is there a shelf life? Yes. Unopened kits are guaranteed for one year after the date of manufacture.
Will it really save me money? Yes. By permanently repairing underground drop and hardline cable cuts, the operator regains the original lifespan of a damaged cable span for only a few dollars. The operator immediately begins to save replacement and service costs such as materials, labor and future service issues which are created by ‘band aid’ gel and shrink tube repairs. You will see immediate savings in plant replacement costs while insuring network integrity every time you use it.
